Cult of Chucky is the seventh installment in the Child’s Play horror franchise. The story picks up after the events of Curse of Chucky (2013), where Nica Pierce (played by Fiona Dourif) is now in a psychiatric institution, believing that she was responsible for the brutal murders committed by Chucky, the notorious possessed doll. However, she remains unconvinced of her guilt, and she is determined to prove her innocence.
Dr. Foley, the psychiatrist in charge of Nicaโs treatment, uses therapy to try and convince her that her trauma and hallucinations of Chucky are merely a result of her disturbed mind. While Nica is being treated, the institution itself becomes a new hunting ground for Chucky. Using a new doll, Chucky begins his spree of killings within the facility, targeting both patients and staff.
As the story progresses, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s accomplice, becomes involved, and it is revealed that multiple versions of Chucky have been brought to life through a dark cult that seeks to give the killer doll an even greater power. The cult, which is a group of people who have connected with Chucky, enables him to possess multiple dolls at once, spreading chaos and terror.
A crucial twist in Cult of Chucky is the return of Andy Barclay (played by Alex Vincent), the original protagonist of the series. Heโs now an adult, and after years of dealing with Chucky’s horrors, he is determined to end the doll’s reign of terror once and for all. Andy helps Nica in her fight for survival, and they confront the different versions of Chucky as they try to escape the psychiatric facility.
