House of the Dragon“House of the Dragon is a fantasy television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO, a prequel to Game of Thrones. Based on Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the series takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and chronicles the fall of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war, also known as the “Dance of the Dragons”. HBO ordered the series in October 2019, with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography beginning in April 2021 in the United Kingdom.
The first season is scheduled to premiere in 2022 with 10 episodes. The series is inspired by the book Fire & Blood, with Condal and Miguel Sapochnik serving as showrunners. The series takes place during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen, leading up to the Targaryen civil war.”
